You want the Broadway energy without the Broadway herd. The music, the crowd, the feeling that the night is going somewhere — but in a room where you can breathe, hear the song you requested, and get a drink without losing your group.
Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar sits at 152 2nd Ave N, corner of Commerce and 2nd Avenue North. Two-minute walk from Lower Broad. Close enough to be part of the action. Far enough to feel like a real decision.
Two pianists battle it out on stage every night. The crowd picks the songs. No cover band loops. No DJ spinning what they feel like. You write it on a slip, tip the pianist, and the room sings it back. That’s the whole format, and it works every single time.
10,000 square feet. Three full-service bars. A VIP room that holds 65. Total capacity of 485. The venue was built for this — the acoustics, the sightlines, the stage — all designed around two pianos and one very loud crowd.
Why Pete’s Is the 2nd Avenue Move
2nd Avenue is stacked with options. Pete’s is the one people come back to. The format is different from anything else on the strip because the crowd controls the show. One night it’s ’80s rock anthems. The next it’s pop and country because a bachelorette crew is running the request slips. Every night is different, which is why it works for first-timers and regulars alike.
Shows run Wednesday through Sunday. Doors open at 6:30 PM, entertainment kicks off at 8 PM and builds until close. Walk-ins welcome. Tables recommended for groups and weekends.
The best downtown Nashville nights have a centerpiece. Pete’s is it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a dress code for Pete’s on 2nd Avenue?
We’re “Nashville Casual.” That means you’ll see everything from sequins and cowboy boots to jeans and a nice top. As long as you’re wearing shoes and a vibe, you’re good. If you’re heading to a rooftop afterward, maybe leave the flip-flops at home, but otherwise, come as you are.
What’s the best time to arrive for a show?
Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the pianists take the stage at 8 PM. If you want a prime spot to see the keys fly, we recommend getting in by 7:15 PM. This gives you time to grab a round of drinks and get your first few request slips into the bowl before the show reaches peak energy.
How does the song request thing actually work?
It’s basically a high-speed musical auction. You write your song on a slip (provided at your table or the bar) and include a tip. While tips aren’t mandatory, they are the “fast pass” of the piano world. Higher tips move your song to the top of the pile. Pro-tip: If someone requests a song you hate, you can actually tip the pianists to stop playing it.
Can I book a table for just two people?
Absolutely. While we love a big squad, dueling pianos is a top-tier date night move. You can reserve a table for two to ensure you aren’t standing at the bar all night. It’s the perfect way to have a “home base” while you vibe to the music.
Is Pete’s 21+ only?
Since we are a bar-centric venue on 2nd Avenue, we are 21+ during show hours. Make sure everyone in your group has a valid ID ready at the door—no ID, no entry, no exceptions (even if you’re the “mom” of the group).
What happens if I have a huge group (20+ people)?
First off, you’re an icon for organizing that. Second, don’t just walk in. For groups that size, you should definitely request a private event proposal or look into our VIP room. It ensures your group stays together instead of being scattered across the 10,000-square-foot floor.
Where do we park?
It’s downtown Nashville, so parking is a “choose your own adventure” situation. There are several paid garages on Commerce Street and 2nd Avenue. However, since we’re steps from the Grand Hyatt and Renaissance, we highly recommend using a rideshare so you can enjoy those three full-service bars responsibly.
